I just got my new Daniel Defense M4 the other day. Took it to the range to dial it in and it shot really well with lake city 193. The only thing was the horrible stock trigger and the front sight post is a little thick for my liking. The next day I went into a local shop and I picked up a CMC single stage trigger. Boy that thing feels awesome, haven't shot it yet but according to the salesmen they are just as reliable as the stock triggers. Does anyone else have any experience with them?

Also Im looking into getting some optics, what are you guys running on your AR's?

I polished all my LMT triggers on my jap wet stone. Took off all the high spots and made it break like cheap glass.
As for optics the sky and your pocket book are the limit. First ask yourself what you want to do? Then look at the iron sights you already have in place. You have an A1 rear and a standard F marked FSB. I would zero at 100M it will make transitions to 5 yards a lot better and put you dead on at 200m. Now back to the sights, you can swap out the front sight post for one in a smaller diameter ( brownells has NM kits of 5 different sizes) but you can't do anything about the aperture in the DD rear sight. You could swap the rear out for a KAC and then swap the front pin that would work.
If you have astigmatism and you don't wear glasses I will advise against any sort of red dot. If not then Aimpoint just released there 2moa T1 micro very nice sight. I have the 4 moa no problem hitting steel at 200m. Lots of guys run eotech but a word of caution only buy from the xpe or exps line. Then you have your 1-4, 1-6, 1-8 variables lots to pic from there as well. Dont forget the ACOGS. Here are some pics.

Sweet rigs! I think a red dot would be a lot of fun but to tell you the truth I think it might annoy me when I try to shoot out past 300+ so a scope would probably be a better choice. Iv looked at the acogs but I don't know if thats the route I wanna go. I think I would rather have something more flexible such as a variable power. What would you suggest?

Also all Iv heard about DD is that they are one of the better guns on the market. Is there anything else as far as weak links on the gun that I should upgrade? I want this thing to be as reliable as possible.

Thanks

You actual bought of of the best rifles out there it needs nothing at all except a good lubricant. I use mobil one but slp2000, miltec and frog lube are good to go as well. CLP is the old standard but it has been improved upon a lot. Dont skimp on the lube either ARs are made to run wet.

For scopes you have a lot of options. It depends if you want to dial your turrets or not. NF compact is very popular, Horus vision talon/blackbird, SWFA 1-4, 1-6, S&B short dot 1-4, 1-8, IOR, Leupold Mk6 (just comming out), leupold Mk4 1.5-5 spr, Vortex Viper PST 1-6, HD model is 1-6, Trijicon accupoint, US optics (toughest scope out there but its heavy), Premere recticals has a 1-8, Bushnell HDMR 1-6, Swarovski Z6 1-6. Meopta 1-4.

Dont for get you can add a 3x magnifiyer to an aimpoint or and eotech.

When you get to 5k plus rounds you may want to replace the extractor or at least buy and extra one for when it does. I have a parts kit that has extraxtors and springs, firing pins, and a few extra bolts cause they will can break. But on a gun in as high a quality as you got I would not expect anything out of the ordanary. Extraxtors at arounf 5k bolts at 15k.

Sweet, thanks for all the info! Im looking into the Vortex PST 1-4x24 with the moa reticle. What backup rear sight would you recommend if I went the scope route? I can get a really good deal on vortex. How do you guys like the magnifiers with the Eotechs? Iv heard they are really bulky and heavy and not that precise because the dot ends up three times bigger also?

To be honest I have only every looked through the Eotech magnafier one time. It did not make it bigger or blury in my opnion. I have a 1-4 optic right now and I realy wish it was a 1-6 or 1-8. If you go to youtube and type aimpoint/eotech magnifier there are lots of pics and videos of them so you get and idea same with the scopes. CS tacticals youtube channel is great for optics evals.

I might buy that DD from you if you are going to get a diffrent one. I would suggets the KAC rear sight. The ones I have in my pics fold low, tough as nails and very small appature. The ones on my LMT are the mircos and the tan one is full size it does not matter which one you get.
