I'm a little interested in a modern muzzleloader, but not sure which way to go. Would like to have smokeless, but don't want to spend 5k on one that I will use one weekend out of the year

Certainly wasn't a slam on you what so ever. It was a comment on the company calling it "Colorado Special" when Colorado doesn't allow that rifle in their state as a legal muzzleloader. Good luck on the selling. Nice rifle no doubt.

Why is this one not legal in Colorado? Because of the primers it uses?

Not sure, have to ask the OP. His statement in his first post said it's not legal. Colorado has some bullet spec limitations. No scopes. Not exactly sure. Could be anything. I know I couldn't use a scope when I elk hunted it with muzzleloader. Who knows what there current regs allow.

The OP didn't say what state they were hunting.
I'm not familiar with muzzleloader regs, but all that I've ever heard of are either no scope, or no smokeless powder. This gun is black powder only and has no scope, so I'd like to know what makes it not legal in some state.
