This is a rifle I had built many years ago (1984). I have forgotten the stock makers name which I originally obtained from a RifleShooter magazine. It is in 99.9% shape. The stock work is nicely executed with no "errors".
Stock: Claro walnut, 24lpi checkering with fleur-de-lis. Not a ding on the checkering. Ebony forend tip, ebony grip cap. 13.5 LOP. The grip has a palm swell. I have medium sized hands and have no issues with the grip.
Action: reworked action. Polished raceways. Really slick. This action dates to 1983.
Barrel: Harry McGowen barrel, 24", recessed crown, 1-10. Will easily shoot 1" or less with 140gr Accubonds (all I tried). I have shot this rifle very little. Perhaps 150 rounds.
Asking $2000 which is well under what the replacement cost would be. Not looking for any trades. I will take additional pictures in daylight so you can see the figure. It is very nice. AAA.
Here is an article on Harry McGowen. He was very good gunsmith (I also had Fred Zeglin fit a Shilen #2 in 7x64. I foolishly sold it. It too was on a Mark X).
