Interesting
What is the advantage of this particular cartridge over the standard 300win?

The main advantage of the 30-338 compared to a 300win mag is shorter overall case. Now you can seat longer bullets in standard magazines. I like it 'cause it's different.
The 300wm is more powerful. The 30-338 used 10% less powder-kicks less, still provides enough oomph.
This is my opinion.
