Mason shot this late season Cow Elk at 980 yards with a 7 STW and the 169gr Hammer Hunter with a MV of 3250FPS. He said, "The cow walked 20 yards bedded down and expired."
When asked about terminal performance at that distance Mason said, "recovered the shank on the far side under the skin, we didn't find the petals, we figure they were in the chest cavity. When gutting, it was extremely cold that morning being -15f, so we didnt investigate to far."
