Converting 300 rum into 338 edge

My question is this. I have a rem 700 police in 300 rum it shoots great but I know the barrell life is short. When I have shot this barrel out is it posible to just have it teamed out to .338, or is a whole new barrel in order

Can you elaborate a little. I'm a hard facts kinda guy no offense.

I think the cost of boring from .30 to .338 cal would be as much or more than a new bbl. in .338

If it is a button rifled barrel or a hammer forged you will not be able to ream the barrel out to .338.

I would imagine a factory 700 P will be hammer or button rifled.

That's what I figured but I want some opinions from people who know more than I do on the subject. Thanks for the info
