Okay guys looking for do your opinions on timney trigger or rifle basix triggers for a Savage Axis. I am putting together a rifle for a giveaway gun for Quest Ministries that helps pay for hunts for Wounded Warriors and children with disabilities I'm putting a Boyd's stock on the gun and want to change the trigger trying to put together a reasonably quality gun as cheaply as possible for maximum return on investment. Looking to not spend more than a 135 for the trigger Thanks for all your help

While I don't have specific experience with those triggers in a Savage Axis, I'd say the good news is you can't make a bad choice here. Both have been staples in the trigger game for a long time. Based only my past experiences on other actions, the Timney would get my vote!

I've used both Timney and Rifle Basix triggers for quite a few years in my Remingtons and really can't tell even a tiny bit of difference in them as far as feel and adjustability.

I also have a couple of Jewells and although, in my opinion, they aren't worth the extra money they cost I will say they're the best I've ever used.

I have two jewel triggers, and I love them but they are expensive, so for a hunting rifle I would go with the Timney

Yes they are a hunting rifle I am giving away to be auctioned off for Wounded Warrior Project. so I'm donating everything trying to keep the price down as much as possible. Thanks for the information

I think either is fine. I'm not familiar with the factory trigger on an Axis but also assume either would be an improvement.

I prefer Timney in a hunting rifle. The Calvin Elite is adjustable and it has a trigger blocking safety which I feel is the best/safest hunting safety in a high performance rifle. Especially when a hunter turns his trigger pull down to the 2lb range. The trigger will not move on safe

The Calvin Elite might cost a bit more but it is worth more. It would be a good upgrade from the average Timney.

In my opinion, there is only 1 trigger, The Jewell. Have 1 in every rifle I own, except my rimfires. Theosmithjr
