Ok.....I know that this question gets hit a lot, but I have to ask anyway. I have just found out that I have about 700-900 to spend on a gun (not scope) this winter. I am trying to decided where to go with this. I want something to hunt elk, mule deer and bear with. I would also like to go with something that uses factory ammo.
I currently shoot a .270 wsm, a .300 win mag and a .300 RUM.
Right now I'm looking towards either a 7mm RUM or a .338 RUM. But I'm also up for some advice on other rounds.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds to me like you already have 3 guns capable of doing what you are talking about doing.
With the guns you already own, personally I would get a 338 but you really don't need it. Never hurts to have another gun though!

If bear is in the mix, get a 338, Otherwise save your money as you have everything else covered with the 300WM.

well you allready sound like you've got everything covered for big game in North America, so its just for kicks now. I would go with a .338 Rum, Norma or Lapua. In the price range you mentioned .338 Rum would be what your lookin at. But I am biased and every time anyone asks what they should get I say .338.
It sounds like you dont have any cheap to shoot varmint rifles, in which case get a .243 cal. I only have 2 rifles and they are a .338 and a .243 and I couldnt be happier.
