Christmas build challenge

I agree with HarperC . The choices where tough and hopefully we can get the other 2 build in the near future ..

Gentleman I really don't know what to say.

I am very grateful, humbled, and tremendously excited.

My kids all wanted to know why someone would give me a rifle. Great time to teach lessons that I hope last a lifetime. This whole thing has been a blessing, just seeing the generosity of you folks. Next year I plan to be a contributor, and pay it forward as much as I can.

I truly am a bit in shock but even more so very excited, thank you all so much.

Mitch.....I think we ALL are blessed! I know how good God is to me, and we are honored to be able to give to someone else. I hope that you get a lifetime of enjoyment, and I am quite sure that this group will build you a great rifle. I hope we can meet someday......Rich

Message for all you donors!

One need that we still have is a #4 contour 6.5 barrel with an 8 twist. I may try to contact some barrel makers and see if they will join in or we could just use $$$ that some of you have offered, or maybe you know of a barrel somewhere? Let me know if you have any knowledge of one, or what you think...thanks/Rich

Rich,

I've contacted an established barrel maker to see if they would like to participate with a barrel donation, will let you know if it works out ......

Hi guys, here is an update on where we are. Travis Redell, (rbrosrifles) will be building a 6.5 Sherman Shortmag for the 2nd place winner. Parts are currently being rounded up and shipped to Travis.
Jerry Easley (jecustom) will be building a 6.5 Sherman and parts are also being shipped to Jerry. I recent addition was a barrel donated to this project by Krieger. We are very appreciative to Krieger for this donation.
We could still use a good scope for one of the builds, if anyone knows of one? We could also use a quality 700 LA stock. We will need some of the cash contributors before long for a few odds and ends including shipping costs, a set of dies, some bottom metal, and?? I will keep you posted and some of you will like be hearing from me individually........Thanks/Rich

Still in it to finish let me know what we need.

It sounds like a couple of quality firearms coming together-I like that!

Here is the latest update. Parts are MOSTLY shipped and in the hands of the 2 builders but we still need a few things:
Build #1 (J.E. Custom) needs bottom metal, mag box, spring and follower for a LA 700 in stainless. We also still need a good scope for this build. If someone has these items they would like to donate (or purchase) please let me know. We also need $200 cash for dies and brass for this one and $225 for a stock.
Build #2 (Rbrosrifles) needs bottom metal for a Russo stock (700 SA) and rings and mounts for a 30mm scope.......thanks for all your help........Rich

Suggestion: we have at least a half dozen $$$ donors that could combine for a larger dollar item like a scope.....

I have the bottom metal ordered from ptg for The short action build. As soon as I get it I will ship it to Travis. What kind of dies and brass are needed for the long action build.

Whidden dies and Norma brass for 6.5 Sherman. I have the ones ready for the 6.5 SS which I was donating, but was hoping for some of the people offering $$$$ to kick in for the other. We started out only building ONE rifle:D. This is a GOOD thing!......Rich

Jerry (JECustom) has a line on a stock for $225 so that much could be sent to him. He also needs the bottom metal, but that could be purchased, or cash sent to Jerry as well I suppose. I need $100 to cover a part of the die expense and (NYSHUNTER) is in the process of rounding up a scope.........thanks/Rich
p.s. TMR has the bottom metal for his build, or will soon
