Cheek Weld - Beartooth vs Blackhawk vs Triad vs DIY

Here is a picture of the logger installed and epoxy. The expoxy needs to be removed and cleaned up in the center channel now. In the background is the top part of the stock up side down. You can see the rods pointing up. Since Loggerhead rods are threaded I drilled the web and screwed them in before expoxy.

I'm partial to the Triad but if you are looking for additional variation in thickness for more than just the top edge, the Blackhawk gives more versatility with a variety of inserts thicknesses for the top and sides. Given the stock is the appropriate dimensions and shape, I have used a Karsten on a couple of my rifles. it's very easy to install and I like the quick adjustability for different shooting positions. scopes, and bolt removal/rod quide use.

I like the Triad Tactical. Fits me well, comfortable consistent cheek weld and comes off very easily for cleaning.

I still have finish work to do but I am almost done. Anyone can do this if you have a little time and enough beer. This is the loggerhead install. I need to clean it up, finish epoxy in top portion, and then paint.

Seems like the best option but most significant effort. I'm not sure I'm ready for that kind of undertaking. I'll probably stick to one of the quick and dirty options.

I understand and agree. That is why I paid the $10 for beartooth cover and a few bucks for a wooden dowel at Lowes.

I can do installs for people if they want. I really like the loggerhead set up and am planning to install the unit in a couple more rifles here soon. It will be about $150 with the loggerhead. Like most people who DIY, I just wanted something different and cool and yet affordable. Seems like most smiths charge 250.00 and I understand why. It takes a really long time even with the right tools.

If you guys decide to go this route it is not that bad of a project. You can contact me if you want and I will walk you through the process. I don't mind helping out at all.

Here is a couple pictures before paint. I will paint the stock asap.
