Hello,
I have a question about scratches that I am getting on the case necks of my brass when fired from my 223 AR-15 platform. Are these scratches considered normal? I am relatively new to the AR style of rifle, not new to precision rifles, reloading, or the shooting sports.

Thank you for any help or insight anyone can provide.

Locking lugs on the barrel extension. Ejector forces the brass to the right as it comes out of the chamber and the corners of those lugs are sharp. Easy to break the corners with a carbide burr when building a rifle. Never could understand why factories don't do it.
Edges of the feed ramp can also provide some scratches and those can be eased in the same way.

They can be hello on casings. I learn something every day. Shot and been around a lot of real A1 real ones with one number higher to the cheap Ruger and bathroom builds. My first thought when I saw picture was that was caused my barrel/bolt lugs. I have NEVER seen that before then see some explanations what and why and why I don't know and what was a well duh to me.
