Looking for a decent calibre to shoot out to 1600 yds with good accuracy, I know the 338 lm is very good at this distance but wondered what the general opinions were on ELR rounds, I know that generaly rifles of 338 calibre are usualy a lot heavier but I don't realy mind this and am mostly looking for accuracy and consistency.

1600 yards is a stretch for any cartridge and the biggest 338 would be a good starting point.

The 338 Excalibur would be a good reference point looking at ballistics at 1600 yards. some of the other 338 will work, but the Excalibur with a long barrel 32 to 34" would be my choice. It will add
100 to 200 ft/sec velocity to the other 338s.
