What would be a good bullet choice in a 3006 for smallish deer (100 - 150lbs) at 100 to 200 yards? Any load recommendations would also be greatly appreciated (IMR4064 or H4350 would be helpful) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

52 gr IMR 4320 150 Nosler AB/Partition - This load flat out shoots! Every 30-06 shot by everyone I know shoots this load just with various bullets.

If you want a HOT load in the 165 gr, work up to 60.1 gr of WW760. I am shooting 165 gr NBTs at 3000 fps with this load.

In my Ruger carbine, I am shooting 58 gr IMR 4350 with 165 gr Hornady IB with excellent results from that light weight sporter barrel. It shoots 2678 fps out of an 18" barrel. It is shooting 2834 fps in my Dad's and brother's Stalker and Model 700.

The 4320 load has taken many deer and antelope all over TX and NM.

150 gr Hornady SP 59 gr I4350 CCI200 out of my 03 and 760 had taken many whitetails at 200 and under in the years prior to finding this site, sport and obsession. Always worked flawlessly...until the day I wandered out of the woods and into a 600yd field....

Any thing will work for quote: "smallish game".
There is no need to run a 150 gr any faster than 2900 fps for what you are looking for.
Powder...H4350 or better yet, try RL 15 sometime.
(my son's load in his '06 w/150 Nosler B.Tips...54gr.of RL15 -2885 from a 22")
