So yesterday after getting the new garage fridge set up I figured I'd head to town and grab some drinks to fill it with. Well just across the street is one of my lgs and I figured I'd better stop in and see what they had for powder and or primers. Well while I was working with a friend trying to get her a western hunting clothing system built for our group hunt I over heard the behind the counter talking to another guy about ammo and the cost and the guy behind the counter says"you think your ammo is expensive I have 264 win mag at 90 dollars a box" what I don't hear was the other customers response as the salesmen then followed it up with I even have a rifle to shoot it in here. Well that peaked my interest so I said you have a 264 winchester? Where? He pointed to a rack and I began to walk over, he beat me over there and picks it up I immediately notice it's a model 70 he says it's a pre 64 with the long barrel. I looked at the price and said are you sure this is right? He said yes sir. I then asked to borrow a bore light to look at the bore. While I was doing that I told him start the paperwork this one is coming home with me. So I'm the proud new owner of a 1960 winchester model 70 westerner in 264 win mag! Let the loading begin!

Hahaha I'm lucky when it comes to that. We have taxidermy in every room and she never complains about the amount of rifles we have

$900 for a pre-64 Model 70? I'd have bought it no matter what caliber it was.

For $900.00 dollars that was a steal. I have a friend back east that has been looking for one in pre-64 Mod. 70. I think he said they were going for 2 to 3 times that price if you could find one.
