I shoot a Browning A Bolt in a .300 WSM and am wondering if this caliber and action is worth building on. I am thinking of adding a schilen barrel and a mcmillan stock. As it sits stock I have had good success out to 650 yards for hunting and have started shooting a gong and paper out to 800 yards for training. It seems like there is a bunch of information out there on folks building off Rem 700's but nothing on Browning actions.

There isn't a lot of aftermarket parts for the browning action. They shoot fine stock though. If you like the caliber it's in, I'd shoot it and carve up a savage or rem.. I've had my a-bolt lh ss in 300 win for 15 years and it's still stock save for a lightened trigger. It's the most blooded rifle I own.

+1 on the aftermarket parts.

I built a 7 saum on my ABolt SA and used a Douglas #4 conture. This is just a little heavier than a stock ABolt with nearly the same profile. Worked out well for me...
but my next build will be on a Remmy 700 action. :D
