Binoculars and Spotting Scopes

I think that I had an epiphany today. I just realized that high powered binoculers are a lot cheaper than high powered scopes! Especially when you figure you just need one pair to cover all your rifles.

I need a pair of high power bino's for counting antlers out to 500 yards and I know nothing about them.

What are some good options for the money (money is tight!)

Also, I need a crash course on at what range spotting scopes are supposed to take over. How much is a decent spotting scope for counting antlers out to 1000yds?

For your spotting scope getting antlers over 1,000 yards, you're going to need high-end glass that will cost you well over $1000. The Vortex Razor HD Spotter is one option among many:
