I use to live a couple miles of the Hudson River south of Albany and the striper fishing was incredible. Never "landed" one that big or over 50 but they were there. The big ones were like hooking a sub that decided to leave the zip code and you just cannot stop them on even medium tackle! This was before braid so I often think about what it woul dbe like fishing at night on the river for these monster hogs and dodging 25,000T freighters was so much fun.... Hits on 12" pencil plugs sounded like a concrete block was dropped from a 100' onto the plug!
