big fifty on a budget

I am looking at buying or building a 50 Cal single shot. Need the total for the rifle to be $ 2000 or under. I need some help with this the 50 Cal would be new to me, so any help would be great. Thanks.

$2000.00 dollars is a great goal to buy a fifty but I dont think you will get there.

To build a bolt rifle the action will be the biggest item and then the stock and then the barrel+
the smithing (About $4000.00).

the best buy that I know of is the AR 50 it can be bought for around $2700.00 +or- .

The semi autos (Like the M82 A1 Barret) Run $8000.00 plus.

So the closest thing to your budget is a used AR 50.

Strangely enough the ammo is cheaper than most big bore ammo by 50%.

Thanks for the info but not sure about the price maybe 4000.00 for a custom job but the AR-50 $2700 sounds very tempting. But i've done some more digging and found a couple 50 cals for $2000. One is from vulcan armament the V50SS-100 for $ 1900, and the other is a Serbu BFG 50 for $2100. Any thoughts on these rifles? Thanks again for your time.

Sorry . don't have any experience with eather one. but the AR50 is a good shooter.

I have a M82 A1 Barret and I like it.(LOTS)

If I were to build one for all out accuracy ,it would be a bolt gun with a very long heavy barrel.

Due to the muzzle blast I would stay away from barrels shorter than 30 to 34".

Maybe someone will chime in and give you advice on the Vulcan and the Serbu.

I'm seeing the ar's for around $3100. Try Serbu.com. Those are going for around $2295 or there abouts. Good shooters, bolt action. For about $400 extra you can get one with a 36" bull barrel. That's about the best bolt fifty on a budget.

If you have an AR lower you can order a fifty upper and just attach it like a regular AR upper. Those are going for about $1295. But can't attest to how they shoot.


A real good shooter is the state arms rebel from east ridge gun company. For about $2500. It's a breech load method. I hear real great things about this one. When I'm able this is the one I'm gonna order.
