What scope will I be using? either a vortex viper or diamond back 4-12. Depending on my funds by the time I am ready to work up a load.

Another vote for H4831SC for 130 140 grain bullets.

I have tried H4831 and 4831sc and thats a s good a spot to start as any. It was also Jack Oconnors favorite he shot a 130 Hornady Interlock with 62 grains the powder may have changed some since his day so work up slow.
My best group to date was with VV N560 and 130 NAB 5 in 1 hole about the size of a dime.

For just starting out you are getting good advice. Here is some of my 50 years experience with the 270.
1966 - 24" Douglas barrel and 130 Sierras. Could't get 3000 FPS with all the 4831 I could stuff in. When I seated the bullet on more than 60 grains the case wall expanded and wouldn't chamber.
N205 was the goto powder. Easily ran nearly 3200 FPS. Got the same velocity with 4340 with higher pressure and shorter case life.
Ran the 4350 load for over 30 years.
After that many years the bbl was done. Replaced w/27" Lilja. Same issue with 4831.
Learned that Reloder 22 = N204 with fewer quality control steps. Velocity of nearly 3200 was again easily achieved with any 130 or 140 grain offering.
However measured velocity when temp was in the low 20s. More velocity loss was shown than I could accept as in the order of >100 FPS.
Tried 7827ssc. Loaded up to usual pressure signs on the W-W cases. Quit at 3200. Safely went much much higher than the 3200 but felt it simply was disrespectful to shoot a 270 Win at those velocities.
7828ssc has, in my experience, been very temp insensitive.
PP-4000 MR appears a bit faster than 7828ssc but easily achieves my desired velocity.
140 grain NABs, Hornady BTSPs, Bergers for all practical purposes are plenty accurate.
Some are notably more accurate than others but all are acceptable in this old Mauser action'd rig.

Oh and I forgot to mention that CCI 200 primers with any powder in my 270 Win resulted in much smaller groups and lower ES than any other tried.

Here's one for ya.
Loaded up some 140 VLDs, jammed just a little, ahead of 55 grains of PP-4000 MR and confirmed zero at 300 yards.
3 shots went into just under 0.5 MOA. Velocities were 3234/3235/3231 FPS @ 10'.
Pressure was respectable but no extraction efforts whatever and primers were not flatted as much as I am used to having them flattened.
I figured the Chrony was lying to me. This evening I set up at 1018 and entered data into Shooter. Shooter called for 19.4 MOA ups. Wind was a bear on the desert this afternoon and I left my wind meter at the house. So I fired not holding for any wind and spotted the shot. 6 MOA - didn't believe that either. Must of pulled the shot though elevation was spot on.....
Held 4 MOA into the wind. Hit 2 MOA with the wind. Darn....
Held for 6 MOA and "ping" spot on for windage and 3" below POA.
Hmmm, Shooter and Chrony agree. That bullet is really going that fast. I wonder why I spent all that time/powder/bullets etc burning out 2 - 270 AM barrels?????

Alright doing some resurrection on this one.. was just out looking around to see what I could find for powder and primers locally. I found some RL-23,252 and 26. Would any of these be decent for a 22" barrel and 140 accubonds? also there where cci 200 and 250 primers and I believe some federal 210's... I cant remember on the federals. would any of these options be a good place to start? I'd like to get as much speed and accuracy as I can but know that the speed will be hindered by the 22" barrel.

they did have imr 4831 so maybe I will get that to try and just buy a few of the different primers they had to try out and see what my rifle likes best.

Just got hand it to you roninflag,you have really done your home work, I favor Alliants Reloader 22 ,and haven't got lucky enough to try RL23 , a good friend has tryed the new Imr 7977 and it shot fantastic,yes lots will work try them, heck it took me 20 yrs to get off IMR 4350 in my 270s but RL 22 changed that Quick ,lots of times some powders are to fast or to slow to use them with say three or four bullet weights in the 270WCF ,130,140,150,160 I'm sure you get my drift ! We're just very Lucky we live in this great time of Great components many choices can't be Wrong, Montanasloth IMR 4831 is also Ausome powder in the 270 wcf, load it try it ,most reloading sources are down loading some powders to make their favored powders look better, a good Reloader can see this by cross referencing published data ,weather it's new reloading manual ,old reloading manuals ,or Whatever ,regards & great reloading to you all !!! jjmp
