I am going to have a 6XC built mostly for practice and I want it to be crazy accurate so I know it is me causing the errant shot and not the gun. I have used Bartlein barrels for my other projects and been happy with them, but never a 6mm. Is there a barrel maker known for making a more accurate 6mm barrel? In the 6mm size should I go 4 groove conventional rifling or 5R? I plan on shooting the new 115gr DTAC but will use the 105 berger hybrid and 107 SMK as back up plans. I would like to have a 7.3 twist if possible (fully stabilized 115gr berger on their twist calculator) but would settle for a 7.5 twist if necessary.

I don't think you can go wrong with any top barrel manufacturer in 6mm. Heck my factory Remingon in .243 shoots sub .5 MOA. Two of my shooting buddy's have custom .243s with 4 groove Bartliens that shoot amazing and my cousin has a custom 6mm Remington with a Krieger that shoots just as well. My other cousin has a .240 Weatherby with a Krieger and it's also around 3/8" or better groups. All of these barrels are conventional 4 grooves and they shoot well under 1/2 MOA and sometimes around 1/4 MOA. I don't see how 5R can make much of a difference when all of these shoot awesome and clean up easily. With an extremely accurate cartridge like the 6XC I don't think you could go wrong with any premium barrel such as Bartlien, Krieger, Lilja, Brux, Hart, X-Caliber, Broughton, etc. I'd buy whatever was in stock, have a good chamber cut, and roll with it. As far as twist, just keep it simple and get a 1:7, no point in waiting extra lead times or anything for a 7.3 twist, you'll never see a difference in my opinion.
