I still have a case and a half of the original Berger 135 CH ammo from when Target Sports was blowing it out at like $26/box. That ammo is super accurate. Should have bought 10 cases lol....
Keep watching Ammoseek.com and you'll be surprised about how even Berger ammo can be pretty reasonable. It's obvious that the advent of Ammo Seek has fostered a LOT of price competition for ammo and loading components now that you can compare prices for hundreds of suppliers sorted by the cheapest ones first.
You have to watch out for the gougers on shipping but that's a minor annoyance once you learn which ones to avoid, but if you're buying in quantity even the shipping gougers have some crazy good prices and I look for them to get better once Trump takes office and restrictions ease. Just watch out for prices to then jump up on imported ammo because of proposed tariffs so you might need to stock up on that stuff soon.
Another great thing about Berger ammo is that they use Lapua brass which is a huge plus in my opinion plus the fact that, at least in the case of the 135 Classic Hunter ammo it's also a hunting projectile and, although I haven't used them on game yet, apparently some people have if the reviews can be believed and with good terminal success.
The competition between Berger and Sierra has fostered some seriously great target worthy ammo that is quite capable as hunting ammo as well. That's not to even mention many others such as Hornady but I've never been a Hornady ammo or bullets fan. I just have never been able to match reported performance with their ammo or bullets in my guns that comes close to Sierra or Berger.
My apologies to James for hijacking his thread. I'm just so passionate about some of the newest ammo that's showing up lately and I think it goes without saying that many of use greatly admire his brutally honest sharing of his data that is undeniably worthy of being considered quite scientific. He is a huge asset to us in the long range hunting and shooting world. I'm saving up my money for a trip to his school sometime in the future. It's only about a 2.5 hour drive from my house.
