Berger 215 gr Hybrids in the 30-06

If you want to use RL17 google Montana Marine 30-06. RL17 anf RL26 is tough to find but your best bets for 2700 fps or better. There are some members on here that got 2800 fps with a 28" barrel. I can't remember what powder he used.

I remember that. IIRC, he was using RL-17 and 208 AMax.

Yeah Shane (MM) was using R17 and if I recall right in his 308 and 06

Got this from Berger when they used to email from their book.

I used 57gr of H4831sc (yes I know it is over book max) at .010" off the lands. Never chronoed it but with your tube, may be worth a look. RL17 did some strange things. Shot really good at 70 degrees and at 35 it went all over, so gave up on it here.

I did also try Rl17 with the 210 at 51gr. Didn't chrono it either.

Thanks for posting this. It will save me a call to tech support. I do have a supply of H4831sc so I will give that a try. I also have 7828ssc and will try that as well. I notice that RL-17 is not listed in the above data page so I will shelve that for now. Again thanks.

I do have an 8lb jug of RL-26. It just may be the ticket I'm looking for.

Yeah and i believe he got a sample of 215 Hybrids from Broz.

One member reported he got 2900 fps using a 208 ELDM seated out long with RL26. I think it was bambam that got 2800 fps using a 28" barrel. He set his rifle up for an elk hunt, I don't remember what powder he used.

Realistically, I was hoping for 2800/2850 from this 32 inch Kreiger barrel. 2900 would be welcome if accurate. I plan on a range trip next week and I will report back on velocity. I will list results when I try the 1 mile range

With that length barrel 2800-2850 might be possible with even one of the different 4831 powders.

RL16 may work as well. I was getting 2493 FPS from a 308 win and a 20" barrel. Add yours and it may get you there.

Also, may want to give Staball 6.5 a go. I find that available quite a bit nowadays

Staball 6.5 is only good for fertilizer I recently bought two pounds of it to test with my 30-06 and 260 AI.
