i have a 300 winchester factory 700 magnum.
what would be starting loads and good powder selection for this bullet.i was thinking of using start ing loads from the sierra loading manual and the 220 grain mk bullet.

I'd use H1000 or Retumbo if you have any or can locate it. Not the fastest but the most stable and should get you near or just over 2900 fps from a 26 inch barrel.

The Berger manual should have a load for it. If not, email them and they'll help you out.

From what I've read, 73-76 grains of H1000 seems to be the sweet spot for the winny. I'd start below that and run a ladder test looking for pressure.

H1000 and Retumbo are both non existent right now and will be for some time. I suggest getting some IMR 7977, it's basically IMR's version of H1000 but you can actually find it for sale.
