Berger 168 & RE26

Wanting to get started with load development for my 7 mm Rem Mag using Berger 168 VLD Hunting bullets and RE26. Berger manual doesn't list RE 26 for this bullet. Anyone used this combination, and if so what would a good starting point be? Have Winchester magnum and Federal magnum primers available, would one be a better choice than the other?

That's weird. I can find loads for powders on both sides of RL 26 with 168gr in 7-mag like Mag Pro, H1000, even Retumbo but no RL26. Closest I found was on Alliant's website... the 162gr AMAX with FED 215 primer.

Berger manual lists RL25, but don't know how close it is to 26

Sierra lists it with their 168g matchkings. Not the same bullet but the charges should still be close to the same.

168 berger vld 71.5 retumbo power has been great all I use for elk

I've been running re 26 for qite a while. My loads are 168 berger, 68 gr re26, 3070 fps, federal lr magnum primers, norma brass. Shoot great. Haven't killed anything with it except steel up to 1000. It shoots so nice that at the last shoot a guy tried it out. Went to the local gun shop and bought a 7 rem mag so he could try and duplicate. I took it as a compliment.

Sierra Reloading App for their 168 HPBT Matchking and RL23 shows Min load at 63.0gr and start hitting Max at 68.1gr.

JGS: what did they tell you for charge wt? Any mention of seating depth? I'm about to start loading that combo for my 6.5 PRC.

6.5PRC- 57.8 was where they stopped and COAL was 2.955 with estimated velocity of 2944. I think there is more there.
