What is the current action screw spacing? I ask because the picture shows it changed.

Looks like it was a 4.40" and was changed to a 4.275" spacing? But you mention it had a target action in it so that wouldn't be right?

Couldn't find my calipers at the moment. But I think you are right since it won't fit my flat back savage short action

Came off of a savage target action like the one in the picture. I think it will fit all savage short actions with the 4.275 spacing
