I was at a local fishing - gun store in the small town I moved to not long ago. On consignment was a Ruger varmint in 25-06. I think it is a older version but not sure how old. It has the brown laminate stock and the barreled action is the mat grey. Have to say it is like new when checking it out. Stock and metal is perfect and the bolt face shows no signs of being shot. I had 1 of the first varmint rifles years ago when Ruger first put them out in the laminate stock in a 22-250. Hand loaded for it and had it for quite a few years. Hunted ground hogs in Ohio for farmers relentlessly when the soy beans where planted. That rifle took more ground hogs than you can shake a stick at during those times. Anyhow, back to the question. Will the receivers take a 1.20 shank diameter barrel if I wanted to have it rebarreled down the road? Did these rifles also come with a 10 twist? I need to go back down their and see if I can find out how old it is. They are asking 1200.00 for it and it has rings and a True Glow scope on it that is really meant for an AR. It would have to go. Had a boat load of rifles over the years but always wanted a 25-06.
