Are Coyotes and Jackles related

Jackles look a lot like Coyotes ! Are they cousins ?

I photographed black-backed jackals in Kenya, thought they were very similar to coyotes.

Interesting , photographs show a distinction in their eyes along head size and shape .

Looks like a cross between a coyote and a grey fox to me. Jackal probably means coyote in Swahili.
