So the question is,
what would be the ideal thickness of AR 500 steel for shooting a 50 bmg at 500 yds and beyond without putting holes in my steel?

I have a 18" 1/2" thick ar 500 that i have shot at 200 and it didnt do any thing to it at all.

I know this is old but I just ordered a Barrett M95 and I have a quality 1/2" thick AR500 large rectangular target. Would love to hear more about the steel people are shooting .50 bmg at!
