Just shot a 6 shot .453 group at 110 yds off the hood of my truck. 89gr Retumbo 230 berger and cci250. Now I will start adding some fire.
I will test RL33 as soon as I find max load of Retumbo.Sounds cool rl 33 sure seems to be a new go to for large cases for more speed.
whatever man... I am at 95 grains rl33 with a 225 hdy hpbt and getting 3,000 fps flat. I can do the same velocity with about 102 grains of rl50. I'm on rp brass lighting the fire with 215's and there is tested headroom with both powders in two different Remington 300rum rifles. I don't know why someone would use h1000 with a 300rum and expect full speed loads; the powder was designed/ marketed for heavy bullet loadings in the 300win and 7rem. I'll stay with my rl33 and rl50 and a standard chamber. As to gauges; yep, been there, done that. My brother in law and I were using transducers back in '04 to work with the 338 rum and 7stw when there was about zero loading data for either one with many powders. I need to get back in the game with a new system; for now I use what I learned then and back off a bit.I dont really understand what you are saying. Basically you just said you overload your rum to reach 3100 fps. Also claim your not hitting it hard. Then claim I need guages. I take it you have guages? Mag length load of rl33 would be crazy compressed with a 230. At least in a 26 inch barrel it took me around 104gr to achieve 3100. Yes I can be arrogant when someone comes to my post to bitch at me for something they dont like. Kinda like a liberal in politics. While I whole heartedly agree on being arrogant you should read your ignorant post. Back to the rifle. The plus p design is so you can achieve those overloaded velocities without the overpressure. Berger manual says 84.8 grains of H1000 in a 26 inch tube should produce 2766 fps. DE load data shows an accuracy load of 90gr H1000. Velocity on that load is just over 3100 fps. This is with normal Rum Pressure. No brass damage, no heavy bolt, no bs with a gain of 330 fps. I am sorry you are bent on people trying to improve ballistics but to people like me this is awesome. As far as needing a crutch like a flat shooting round I guess sure I like it. My clients wont miss as much and more game is anchored in its tracks because there is less guesswork.(My bad) The next steps with this rifle will be testing the rest of what H1000 has to offer then it will be Retumbo then RL33. Just think about the velocity gain a standard 26 inch rum made with RL33. Now add the plus p design and a 30 inch tube.
You keep changing your story. Earlier it was 3100 with a 230, now its 3k with a 225. You have contradicted yourself enough not to warrant another reply. Lets try crayons and tide pods. Never once was H1000 mentioned to be a hyper velocity powder. Simply a starting load. I will go through the other powders like Retumbo and RL33 for testing purposes. I am not testing with 215s, 225s or any other than a Berger hybrid 230 grain for this test. I give you an A plus for getting 95 grains of RL33 to achieve 3k fps with a 225 in a 26 inch tube. That still isnt 3100 plus with a 230 and being at a safe pressure. I am still not sure what you are getting at other than bitching about a post that you contribute zero info on. From now on I will recommend to everyone that they ask your permission before diving into a 300 rum plus p even though it is different than 300 rum that you clearly have zero experience with. Again if you have experience with a 300 rum plus p, then please contribute. If you want to be a troll then troll on somewhere else.whatever man... you have a hell of a reading comprehension problem or you are trolling. Either way, you can do whatever the heck you want... I'm out as you simply know better than everyone else. You remind me of Clark; I had him blocked for years as he was the same blow hard type as you and he only blew up a "few" guns.I don't know how fast you want to go with a 225-230.... Most of us that are using rl33 are already getting 3,000-3,1000 fps out of our 300rum rifles. I'm doing 3K with a mag length load; I am not even hitting it that hard. I'd rather loaf a bigger chambering a bit and get some life out of it than worry about the last possible fps.
You probably ought to be using pressure gauges if you are pushing your little toy that hard anyway. Most who are pushing hard are actually somewhat over pressure.
btw, acting snotty doesn't really help your point; it just makes you seem arrogant. We all get that shorter time of flite makes hits easier at range. Most of us simply don't need that crutch or don't care.
Is it just a different throating or are the case dimensions different?
Call Shawn at Defensive Edge as he is the one that developed this throat design. What's the difference if I may ask? I searched and didn't come up with any info on ultra mag +P... Is it just a different throating or are the case dimensions different?
Nothing wrong with the 6.5s. But they are definitely not and will not be 300 rum or 30-378 weatherby comparable.
They do tend to say that. Also they like to compare hot hand loaded 6.5 to box round 300 win. It needs to be apples to apples. Hear you on the Vortex debate as well. Great warranties are good when you have to use them but better when you dont. My RUM plus p and 6.5-284 wear Nightforce glass. One NXS and one SHV. Both flawless. Cant say the same for my Vortex.Sorry man forgot the sarcasm font. Lol
I know dam well they won't. I just get a kick outta the guys that always try to make the 6.5 out to be some magical round. My fav is the same drop as a .300 win. But forgetting to tell you the diffrence in energy cause they just spout some crap they heard.
Like when I go to cabelas and the guy tries to tell me the $300 vortex is every bit as good as the night force atacr.
