amax lengths

hey guys just doing a little reloading tonight with 162gr amax. first time loading these bullets and was suprised with the difference in c.o.a.l with these bullets. how much of a oal of the cartridge with a polymer tipped bullet acceptable? i was regularly getting reading 20 to 25 thousandth difference.

WOW! I would not find that acceptable at all.

I use 105 AMAX in my .243 and I have not found even 1 that was off by more than a couple thousands.

I shoot the 162 A-max and it's only a thousand here or there. Are you measuring the total length of the bullet or measuring off the ogive?

well i have been measuring total length and maybe all of my variance is in the polymer tip?

Yeah, don't measure the tips they are pretty erratic. measure to the ogive that position will yield the most consistent results. YMMV
