Affordable adjustable scope?

I'm curios why not so many on this forum , don't recommend MEOPTA scopes , being they are European made and excellent glass , some of the best, they use to make Zeiss scopes and now are making and labeling their own I don't think it is possible to beat there price in comparison to scopes twice as much . I think most scopes are made in CHINA these days with the exception of a few MEOPTA being one . Is it because of not being advertised or just not costing enough .
One reason may be that they have a 1 year warranty.
Another may be that they are not as well known as the bigger brand names. I've never used or looked through one, but I know Nightforce and their performance.
Another one that you don't hear much about anymore is Weaver. I have a couple of their target scopes that are spot on in their tracking and repeatability and have never let me down....knock on wood.
Here is some discussion at Snipers Hide...

Maybe don't know about the warranty never had to use it , when I can get all the bell and whistle's out of a MEOPTA for less than half the price of a NIGHTFORCE ,with all the different options , I personally will stick with MEOPTA ,they have unbelievable light gathering at dusk and have proven themselves to me . The dealer that put me on MEOPTA actually help design some of LEOPOLDS best scopes and now is a MEOPTA dealer. I have 2 MEOPTA scopes 1 is the same as or close to the zeiss conquest the later is the optica 6 . There is no comparison when comparing to my LEOPOLDS and I have a lot of LEOPOLDS and actually like some of my WEAVERS in comparison to the clarity of my LEOPOLDS .

Just looked up the warranty 10 years standard and lifetime if registered in 30 days , and I think that is transferable.

"light gathering" and "great glass" don't mean a hill of beans if a scope doesn't:

Retain Zero
Track Correctly
Return to Zero

Meopta doesn't have a great reputation in those areas… much like Leupold (save the MK4/5 series).

For your application I would recommend a Swarovski Z5 3.5 - 18 x 44 if they still make them. I have one on my 264WM for the same distances you described.
Has worked great.
Hope this helps.

Well I guess that isn't an issue then , never had or heard of those issues, with the scope models I have it would be interesting to compare my MEOPTAS TO Whatever scope you prefer . So far they retain zero ,track and return to zero . I have so much confidence in one of my favorite rifles I hunt with, haven't checked it on my range for 2 years,. just game started feeling guilty and plan on verifying everting tomorrow.I must have bought some rare scopes that do what they supposed to do. I love my MEOPTAS , maybe mine are an exception the rule, who knows ,there is always critics to the other man's brand . I'm not partial to any brand , but will recommend something when I personally have a good experience with a particular scope brand etc. THE POST SAID AFFORDABLE ,In my opinion most 2 to 3 thousand dollar scopes aren't considered affordable to most . I can afford whatever , but prefer to keep my optic prices under a 1000 .

By the way MEOPTA builds NIGHTFORCE spotting scopes may not mean anything , but there are a lot of good reviews on MEOPTA scopes . That's all I have to say good luck on the hunt for an affordable adjustable scope .
