Hey everyone, I'm asking for your recommendations for an action that would fit my criteria.
It is a varmint gun and I've decided on a short action in .308 as that allows me to shoot .308, 7mm08, .260, .243, and even 6mmbr which I am probably going to chamber in the rifle in.
-I know 6mmbr don't chamber very well and so a single shot action would be fine (one specifically tailored to the shortness of a 6mmbr is fine to.)
-I am left handed, and if going the custom route I'm getting a left hand action
-The barrel will be a medium contour - .750 muzzle diameter @ 24 or 26" long
-The weight of the rifle 8-9lbs
The rifle is going to be a portable long range varmint rig so if you could, what action would you pick? Please also post a price tag along with your action choice or choices.
The cheapest I know of currently is a Savage, the 2nd then is probably a trued rem 700 which cost almost the same as a new custom action which is why I'm interested. Thanks.
