abs barrels

[new shooter]

just talked with kirby and i ordered a carbon-fiber barrel in Jan. for my 338 AM, Kirby has not got my barrel from ABS (No response from ABS either) is any one getting a response from them? I am just sick about this, i wanted this gun for hunting season. I went with this barrel so my wieght would be under 16lbs. for Idaho hunting. Plus the barrel would last longer because it removes the heat. Since I live near Idaho I don't want a gun I can't use in Idaho, so again is any one getting any barrels delivered?

I ordered a barrel in Feb., and still no sign of it.The main thing scary about ABS is they will not answer the phone or return E-mails, at least not mine.

I was told that the problem is getting the barrels from the barrel makers. It is quite a process to mill them down and slows down production. They can make several normal barrels to one prepped for carbon. Don't have any confirmation on this but the wait is worth it. I love my abs barrel.

A slow down in getting your materials is a common problem when things have to be outsourced but that is no reason to not keep your customers updated on their products

Amen to that!!!! I would love to hear the reason why phone calls and emails are not returned........ Not good for someone who wants your money at least IMHO.

Squeaky doors get fixed first. Just keep hounding Mike to return your calls or emails. It takes a bit of pestering but he will deliver.

ABS

I have a barrel on order with ABS, I have talked to mike several times with out any problem. Mike's operation is small and he handles hie own calls. Just leave a message with a number that that you will anwser in the next day or two (ie. cell phone) and he will call back. If he misses you you'll have to call back.

ABS was verey promp on my barrel. Getting a barrel from RC to ABS is a diffrent story. I placed my first crder with Mike Rock himself which he wrote on a scrap of paper which he promply lost so when the promissed deivery time came and went I called and his people had no knowledge of my order. Then RC sent the wrong barrel length to ABS 26" instead of 29". Then RC could't replace the barrel for a while becuse their machine broke. When they finaly got the correct barel to ABS they finshed their work n less than two weeks.

ABS has several other sources for cut barrels that can deliver much faster. I choose to stay with RC for the 5R rifiling and exclent quality despite long delays.
