I had a chance at a 960 yard coyote while I was bear hunting, so I gave her a shot. He was on a distant knob mousing with another buddy of his. I had all the time in the world to get set up with my 338 EDGE w/300g SMK's. My dad ranged him at 960-961 with the swaro 1500. After I dialed up the required elevation on the VX3 LR 6.5-20x50 Leupold, I unleased a 300g SMK his way. My dad was spotting and said I shot probly 6" over him was all. I should have compensated for the slight dowhnill angle(but my ACI indicator is broke) I believe I would've gotten him, if not even closer if my ACI was not broke. That coyote took off like a bad out of heck, lol, no chance for a 2nd shot. I thought it was worth a shot anyway.

Also missed one laying in a wheatfield about 200 yards, didn't ahve time to range him. All that was visible was his head and I tried my luck with my 25-06 and 75g vmax, but to my surprise, it sailed right over his head. He jumped up and took off hauling mach 10, I shot 2 more times as he was running away, zig zagging every which way, and got close both times, but no coyote.

Didn't see any bears, again...

Stinking coyotes--6'' @ 960ygs is close ..

Did he know where the shot came from?

I like it when they run towards me after the shot..

2506 w/75gr vmax-straight up flattens coyotes like nothing else -looks like a grenade went in.
I shot one last year -shot hit low and took his front legs off -you never seen or heard so much squalling.

Hope you get a bear -take the camera !!

Yah I was kinda upset I got that close and didn't hit him. But oh well, its all good fun!! I really need to get that ACI fixed before I get a shot at a bear or big buck. If I miss one of them, I'll be a little more mad then a coyote. Especially when I paid $150 for the thing and it doesn't seem to hold up to real well to the recoil of the 338 EDGE. Kinda dissappointed...

He had no idea where the shot came from. He was smart enough not to stick around though, LOL. If he woulda stuck around for a 2nd shot, I woulda held at his feet, and I bet he woulda got a 300g SMK right to his dome. He straight booked it to the nearest brush patch and didn't look back once! His buddy actually ran down the knob towards us, but he to was booking it to the nearest brush patch which was about 600 yards below us. He stopped for a brief second, jumped up on his hind legs to see where his buddy was, but then it was off to the races again, LOL. Actually quite funny to watch.

Yah those 75's are hell on yotes, also your barrel to!! I've shot a few yotes with them over the years and if they dont exit, the usually leave a splat wound you can put your fist in. Total devastation either way. I dont use a steady diet of them, just shooting them up from what I had loaded in my previous 25-06. I think I"m gonna stick with a 100g NBT in the rifle as it shoots just as flat (within 1-2") as the 85g NBT, but bucks the wind a little better. Need to work up a load with them after I get done tinkering with the 115g VLD's.

I"ve been out 4 weekends now for bears since the season started and I haven't seen chit!! Everyone I talk to is seeing 3-4-5 and not even shooting them!! I'm starting to wonder if they know a 300g SMK is headed there way, LOL!! Camera is always with me!! You guys will be the first to hear of it when I do get one though. Stay tuned, going again in 2 weeks...

don't fill bad i missed a aoudad a 1214 and then missed a yote at 540 about a month ago all in front of friends that think this long range stuff is a big pile of. all because i didn't realized my exbal program on my phone goes back to a sample ever time i turn it on (the first time i used it). i shot it for a 308 and not my 338 edge. my old palm stays on the same round. check your equipment lesson learned the hard way!!!!!!!!!!

R-man 2506 -i'm a 100gr nbt fan -they really shine in my gun.
Staying tuned -good luck..

Jeff 300 -man you would have been a hero -but your phone tricked you .
