I have a 26" 6.5 twist krieger I was planning on doing a 223 trainer build with but noticed an uptick in people doing a 22 creedmoor and couldn't help but think it would make for one more wicked long range coyote thumper and the case shape would lend its self to feeding flawlessly from aics mags. My question is, how fast can you safely push the 95gr smk before you need to worry over ripping the jackets off with a twist rate that fast?

I'm pretty sure that 6.5 twist would cause issues if chambered in 22 creed. 7 twist is exploding 95 sieras, 88 eldm and 85.5 Berger's for SOME people , and maybe just at SOME point in their barrel's life. My 7 twist is shooting the 88 eld at this point ,.but the barrels still new. May start to wish I did an 8 twist

6.5 twist at 22 creed velocities will undoubtedly cause issues. Thats some crazy RPM on that bullet. My dad runs the 95 smk in his 22-250AI and he has a 7.5 twist barrel. That stabilizes them just fine and its an absolute lazer beam. I would go no tighter than a 7.5. 8 twist may even work but im not sure.

I run a 1/7 on mine. I try to keep my 95s under 3100fps. That puts them at 318,857 rpm. I may have to slow them down a tad as I'm starting to get a few "poofs" now that my barrel is over 200 rounds. The 95s are straight up ridiculous in the 22CM. Supersonic beyond 1600 yards.

I just picked up a box of the 95s to try in my 1:8 22-250 AI. Hoping I can push them fast enough to stabilize!
Keep us posted please. I have a box of 90s to try. I think the 95s will fly and be very stable with the 8 twist. Let's find out. Seems like manufacturer recommendations get too aggressive on the extreme end of these bullets. Like they recommend a 1-6.5 but if they dang things won't stay together they ain't much good.

I'm not sure, but I think the 6.5 twist rating may have been based on 223 or 224V velocities. Not hard to exceed 320,000 rpm with Creedmoor or 22-250 sized cases.

Update on an old thread in case anyone is researching. I built a 22 creed with a 25" 6.5 tw barrel. Shooting the 95 SMK at 3200 with no issues. Plan to shoot hammers for hunting deer with it.

Currently I'm running 80gr eldms. I'm waiting on a Bartlein .219 5r 7.5-6.8 gain twist to run the 95smk. At 6.8 GSF is still 1.45 to get the most out out of the BC. I was going to go with a 7 twist but I've seen 1-2 other guys running 7 twist and would have a shot key hole from time to time. Seems like with the 6.5 twist at first guys can run them 3150 without issue then after a few hundred rounds they will start to blow up sometimes and they will drop to 3000-3050 and the issue goes away. You will hear results all over the place from guys running them in 6.5-7.5 twist no 2 barrels are the same and bore di. and rifling configuration can causes issues like with a 3groove .218 bore. I'm planning on running them at 2900fps from an 18" barrel for a suppressed hunting rifle, that puts me at 307k rpm. I went with the gain twist and 5r rifling for extra insurance. Wanted to try the 95s because I think they will still have less wind drift than the 80eldm at 3250 out of a 20" Bbl. Probably not worth it if you're mostly shooting 600 and under though.
Left factory 6cm 108 eldm, middle 22creed 95smk 2.850", right factory 6.5cm 140eldm
