Thank will measure that. The rifle will be in my possession in a few week, my smith building à stock for it, it à remington 1980 clean as newYou will need to know your chamber neck inside diameter and the outside diameter of a dummy round w/bullet that you have run thru your 7-08 die.
Subtract the O.D of dummy round from the ID of your chamber neck. If you have .003" or more clearance, you won't need to turn the necks.
If you don't know the 7-08 neck ID, you can measure the outside of a neck fired in your 7-08 and add .001" to get a close ID.
The only modification on the rifle is the stock, other wise is as it was born in 1980. Dont know if it have a tight chamberI never have had to on 308 to 7-08, but if your 'smith put a rather tight chamber in the rifle, you might want to skim turn for a few thou. clearance and better neck uniformity... I have to skim turn with rp 7rum brass in my Brux barreled 7rum...
