Guys what are you using in your 7mm Ultramags with the 180 Bergers?
I have a Benchmark 9 twist, 29 inches long, Wyatt's extended mag installed.
My gunsmith recommended 50BMG.

hodgdon goes to 96 grains of 50bmg on a 175-- a grain or two less on a 180 will be about top. My 7rum ran 95 of I 5010 on a 175 really well until the throat tired. 50bmg is basically the same powder but not mil-surp.

I shot Retumbo in my 7UM with 154 and did very well. (FPS and accuracy)

I can't see any reason why it will not fill the bill with the 180gr.

Give it a try.

Some have thoughts that ball powders such as US869 impart less throat erosion than those that are course powders such as H50BMG. Usually this is not of huge concern but with the 7 rum it may be of some value if there is credibility to the assertation that ball powders are easier on throats than stick powders. That said, I use IMR7828 and RL25 in my 7rum but I'm not a true long range shooter shooting 180 bergers. Food for thought.

I had goog luck with 180 hybrids, Brux 28 with retumbo 3200 think it was 93 start at 88 and work up.. 10 inch groups at 1760 yards..
