7mm ultra mag barrel

I have read that 7mm ultra mags are hard on barrels that they are shot out could someone explain this to me.how many shots does it take how do you know when it is shot out how do you prevent it or if it can't be prevented would a custom barrel slow it down

It is all relative.

A 7mm08 is harder on a barrel than a 308. A 243 is harder on a barrel than a 7mm08.

Same with the RUM's. the 7mm will be harder on a barrel than the 300, 338, 375...

Smaller bore size and the same or more powder capacity decreases barrel barrel (throat) life.
