7mm Remington mag with n570 180 bergers

I have a 7 mag Remington 700 it's a newer rr action 26 inch barrel it's not a gun I hunt with anyway I thought I would try n570 for fun with 180 berger vld. I shot in increments of .4 and worked up to 74 grains the node was at 72.8 at 2980 fps shot pretty well at 100 3/4 inch I haven't ran it past my labradar yet to check es and sd 72.8 is about at the max I can put in the case before it becomes compressed I'm not getting a sticky bolt lift but it's close I haven't seen to much info on this combo has anyone played around with n570 in a 7mag?

Winchester brass cci250 primers no ejector marks it's a lot of powder for a 7mag I usually run 168 Berger's with rl26 66 to 67 grains has worked out pretty good with that combo
Yes it seems like a lot of powder. But hey, just goes to show you how each rifle is unique!!!

I'm mainly tagging in cuz I'm bout to play with some 180 HYBRIDS and tumbo or h1k. Currently running 69 grains of h1k (which I've been told is similar to 570) behind 168s and I'm at 3043 in a 26" tube. Very mild load in my rifle but accurate. Hoping to make 3000 with 180s.
 
That really isn't that much powder considering how much slower N570 is. I normally run 68-71 grains of H1k, or 69-72 grains of Retumbo in a 7 mag with 180 bergers depending on the gun or components. Considering in my .338 Norma, n570 took 95 grains to produce the same velocity that 92 grains of retumbo did with the same bullet, and also the density of N570, his charges seem right about in line. H1k is not at all like N570, you will use much more N570 than H1k in any given chambering. About the only similarities are they should both be pretty temp stable, and they are both on the slow end of burn rate, with N570 being slower. H1k when compared to N570, produces lower velocities, burns cleaner, so less carbon fouling, burns cooler for longer barrel life, and has less case fill. N570 will generally produce about the best velocities possible in cases it works in, aside from maybe rl33, will carbon up a barrel quicker, and will erode a throat faster when ran at similar pressures. Both are very good powders that work in many of the same cartridges, just depends on what you want out of them. H1k is my preference for consistency and accuracy, N570 is my preference for top velocity.

How is bullet seating? Is the boat tail/bearing surface above the neck/shoulder junction of the case? And are you using a drop tube? I haven't tried it, but seems like it could work well as long as you can fit enough in to hit a good node.

Looks like @100% would be around 76.5-76.8gr h2o for the weight bullet. I have 570 for 264wm and case is almost the same dimensions a 7mag (body -.017"). LRT might be possible? Like any gun, no 2 are alike? I don't have any guns in the 28cal range, but maybe 1 day.

No drop tube the oal is 3.43 I have 2 guns that I run n570 a 300 rum that I shoot 90 grains with 225 eldm's and a 264 win mag with 156 Berger's that likes 63.4 grains. I just thought I would try n570 to see what it would do. I need to go check the es and sd and see what it does

I don't have any experience with 570. My research shows they are close on the list with burn rates with 570 being a little slower. And I've also heard 570 isn't proving to be as "consistent" as claimed regarding Temps. I know individuals who switched back to h1k because of this. You mostly see guys in the 68-71 grains area for 7rm. I don't know anyone running 74 and above personally. But that's just me. 👍

Yes the 7mm mags that I have done loads for were two browning abolts 9.5 twist they shoot really well with 168 vids and 66 to 67 grains of rl26 . This n570 load was a weekend with not to much to do and curiosity and this what I came up with then I was curious if anyone had tried it with rl26 I was getting right at 3000 with the 168 vids. I haven't tried to push 180 vld's to 3000 with retumbo or h1000 I may try some h1000 and see what I get out of it
 
I have not had retumbo do well in anything I have tried to use it in. My 7 mag loads are 195 EOLs over 67.5 H1000 ~2880-2900 fps depending on temps and 175 Accubond LRs over 68.5 H1000 at about 3030fps. Both loads are 1/2 MOA or better when I do my part on the shooting side.
 
I have done two REM 700 7RM using that combo. One is at 70 grains...the other at 72 grains. Both shoot lights out.
