Have an old long action 110 Savage. Going to build a 7 1/2 ish # rifle 22" barrel. 7mm08, 280 or 284 Winchester? I like the option of Lapua brass in the 08 but it's the slowest of the three. Peterson does make 280 brass and it's the fastest of the three. The 284's accuracy and ability to seat out long in a long action is a plus. What ya'll say.

Lapua makes the 284 brass as well if that's a big factor for you. I just went through the same decision process and I went with 280ai. Barrel is off getting threaded and chambered now but I already have 100 Peterson brass sitting in my reloading room. Side by side next to my 30-06 lapua brass it looks better?

Neck up I'm pretty sure. Just run it through a standard 284 die and your good. Unless you need the head stamp correct you be good.
