7mm mauser ammo.

Just curious, i just built a 7mm mauser. I'm looking at using factory winchester power point ammo with it. But i noticed the mauser ammo uses a 145gr bullet. But the 7mm08 uses a 140 gr power point bullet??? Why is that? Just curious.

Can't answer that question. But I believe factory ammo for 7x57 is loaded to a lower pressure than modern rifles can shoot safely so as to be safe in the older small ring mauser's ( model 93) and such.
