I have been shooting a 7mm08AI with 120gr NBT bullets for whitetail and mule deer with great success. I recently switched my daughter's 243 win to 70gr hammer hunters with great success and accuracy. I just finished a 7mm rem mag and was wondering what grain hunter hammer would you recommend. Thanking everyone in advance.

I shoot 143's out of my 7mag. I don't have my notes in front of me, but I think I am around 3300 fps with RL23. If you look up the load data for Hammers, you will find a lot of info.

Either 131 or 143 probably would work well.

With your twist rate the 131gr. is the heaviest Hammer Hunter recommended. I loaded some up for a buddy at 3,300 and they're extremely accurate in his rifle. I run the 155gr. HHs in my 7 Mag but I have an 8.5 twist barrel.

Thank you for your thoughts. I was actually very surprised how well the 70gr HHs did in the .243. I thought they would be way too light. Do you think the 120gr HHs are too light for 7mm mag?
