Savage, you do things like I do, as far as figuring max length, using case and bullet, and then chamber. Been doing that for twenty years, never failed me. It just plain works, no modified case needed!
I'm gonna have to try this tomorrow

You may not want to go heavy but I shoot a 162 AMax at 2700 fps out of my 24" Rem 700 and it s consistent 5/8-3/4". Got lots of 3 shot groups at 1/2" or slightly under.... it usually comes to my day/work behind the trigger.
I shoot 47.2 grs of H4350 with CCI250 in WW case with this. 2.90 OAL as I have extended Wyatt Mag. It's a full house load so work up. Primer pockets staying tight. That bullet makes the 7-08 a hammer even out at 600-800 yds !
Always had good luck with vargetand 120 nos bt.
Around44-45 grains of Varget with 120 has worked good and 42 or so with 139/140 s. At least my experience.

I just want to go a little 2-300 yard paper punching, as I know these are accurate bullets. Not going to shoot that weight for hunting, target. The bc alone, just screams, shoot me! Its kinda like shooting a 178, in a .308. Fun stuff!About 25 years ago we used the 168gr Sierra Matchking HPBT for silhouette competition, we used IMR-4350 on one rifle and 4895 on the other but don't remember the exact charges, both rifles were 28" barrels. Cloverleaf groups at 200m and average 1 MOA groups at 500m with them on both rifles. They are crazy accurate bullets but we had to switch to the 150gr version in order to knock down the Rams at 500m. The 168gr just did not have enough punch at that distance. You'll definitely have some fun with them.
