I have seen a resurgence of folks talking about 7 SAUM or 7SS in a Long Action. I am frustrated with mine and have to ask. Are you feed from a magazine? I worded with a very skilled Mechanical Engineer and we cam up with a mod for my mags, but it didn't hold up to the abuse and my mags failed the day before I left for my Nilgai hunt and I had to hand feed each round. I had not practiced that and was unable to get a second round on my bull and lost him in the brush. What are you doing to prevent the cartridge from moving around in the mag?

Thanks!

I don't know of any problems, but thats not to say they aren't there? I don't know offhand who has the SS on a long action?
they run so well on a SA that most don't bother.

I was hoping to get the 195's way out there in COAL, but ended up @ 2.950" was close to jamming into the lands, but leading up to that I had listened to lots of folks running these 2 in a LA. After my problem arose, I reached out to find that both were single feeding so did not have the issue. Under recoil, the round move forward in the mag and start to nose dive. My ME friend chose to put the spacer in the front of the mag, thus keeping the rim at the correct location for feeding. I have since seen others that have put the space in the rear. The 3d printing, with metal infused resin, not PLA, started to bind after 50 or so rounds and would not longer work. I am looking to see if anyone has a metal off the shelf solution that I have not been able to find yet.

Thanks!

When I was building 25/26/28 on 300WSM cases and using mostly standard length actions in Winchester Model 70 rifles, I was removing the standard mag spacer and building my own and welding it in. I don't have my notes anymore, but it was longer than the standard spacer by about .100" from memory, a bit over 3.250" inside the mag box instead of 3.4". I had the problem of the case not slipping under the extractor and popping out early. No problem using a SA Remington 700 with that. Just the feed rails needing widening.

Cheers.

I know exactly where you are coming from. I tried forever to get AICS mags to work. Had a friend print a spacer and that helped a little but still not consistent. The BEST by far solution is the Hawkins Hunter mags with their spacer kit which work in an M5 bottom metal. Feed perfect.
