I picked up a few battlepacks of surplus ammo from Midway. I am not able to find any "real"ballistics info for this ammo. Ya I know it isnt all that accurate ect... However this is the ammo I am starting with (price was right).
Midway says its winchester but last time I checked they post info in English.
This is DAK ammo I am looking for any info reguarding ballistics. I have googled it 6 different ways from sundown and am haveing no luck...
I have seen it listed with a velocity of 2700-2800 (even saw 2750). It is berdan primed with a FMJ BT (cupronickle)brass cased. 147 grain.

I will be shooting this out of a remy 700 sps varmint 26 in brl bedded in a B/C medalist topped with a Burris 4-16 XTR. I do have a crony to use once at range but am lacking info such as bullet ce (Dm111)....

Any help will be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance...Dave

Its easy. Shoot groups at two different ranges and measure the drop and use a BC calculator. Or if you have the ability to shoot at long ranges, just get zeros for your desired distances. Shooting over a chronograph is smart.

I have a few of the ballistics calcs from here and it asks for several factors I dont have ex: powder type?? and ammount?? bullet CE (not sure how much that matters??? Im guessing the more I leave blank the less effective my results will be.. From what I remember reading doesnt the bullet type determine the CE????(not affraid to learn something new). As for range I have from 50 yd to 200 yd. Say I got my groupings figured what to a do with those numbers. I have not learned how to figure the CE from those numbers?? The bullets are cupronickle FMJ BT DM111 147 gr.??

Is there a link I can go to to find this info???
Alot to learn...
Thanks Dave

Ok Ill go with that.... I have googled to the point of frustration trying to find any real info about this ammo....And not sure what to believe in some of the thread Ive read.... I totally realized this isnt good ammo but this is for practiceing trigger pulled breathing and practice at up to 200 yds for now.
I dont expect anything special other than it possibly holding 1 moa.
What will do is let me practice entering data into the ballistics software and other forms of practice. I do plan on getting better ammo for the more needed shots and for dialing in my skills....But at this point I find this ammo sufficient for my needs.

Thanks for the help!!! Dave

Tough to shoot drop data without stretching it out a bit (400 yards +). I have no info on your specific ammo, but If you punch in 2800fps and use a .380 G1 BC it should get you on paper when you can stretch it out a bit.

Once you have the real speed and the real drops at a longer range, just tweek the BC in your program until it matches what your rifle does at the ranges you shot and then you will know the BC and your chart will be good to go.

I build drop dials as part of my work and many bullet/load combinations require a BC other than whats published to get an accurate set of drops..

You mentioned it is a battle pack. From South Africa maybe?

Anyway it is loaded to NATO 7.62x51 spec and you can go to wikapedia and look at the specs or google Nato 7.62x51 and there are lots of references.

If anyone is interested in this long dead thread, I have chronoed a few different lots of this ammo out of a 20 inch Larue OBR rifle (7.2x51):
