How does the DTAC compare with the 115 berger or the 110 Atip? Seems to me that the berger holds together a bit better than the A-tip. Is the DTAC tougher?
DTAC w/nosering at 580 yards. Died from a rare blood loss disease at the exact same time the DTAC tore through him.
A-tips tend to show extreme variability in terminal performance and, and while most of my use has been with the A-Tip 153gr 6.5mm, I would not suggest them for hunting.
Bergers kill very well, as long as they upset according to their design, which is the problem with them, why I call them the 50/50 bullet, as half the time they don't, and why I don't use them for hunting.
Never heard of the term nosering until now. Looked it up, interesting and cool addition to that bullet.
Looking at your face in the pictures, l can understand how you are on scene when these animals are dying of natural causes! You're the grim reaper

Anyways have at the new fad, I'm heading out to load me up some 212 LRX Bore Riders for my 300 WSM which is as short and as light as a 6CM setup and my little old wife doesn't have an issue with the recoil. I got a Big Elk waiting in New Mexico

The Bergers seem to me to competently detonate within a deer's rib cage or to have a nice mushroom and stick under the offside hide maybe 30% of the time. But that's only with the maybe 12 deer with that bullet. I could see that the complete unraveling wouldn't be desirable in larger bodied game. Is that what you mean? Do the DTACs mushroom reliably? Thanks!

Bergers are a great bullet. Unfortunately the Berger Targets and Hunters will look the exact same through an animal if they don't upset and fragment or yaw and tumble - they will just pencil through the animal and not create a large enough permanent crush cavity to incapacitate, giving a chance for a followup shot or disrupt the CNS, rendering it "dead".
If they work correctly, Berger Hunters with their thin jackets will enter, the hollow point actually folds in on itself, upset violently the shape of a ball, fragment and turn into corn flakes sending shrapnel throughout, creating massive damage. Opening up the hollow point with a small drill bit the same size as the cavity helps prevent this a great deal.
If they work correctly, Berger Targets with their thicker jackets will enter, either fold in on itself creating a nice big boxing glove looking bullet (Partition) creating a 1" wound channel, or yaw and tumble, creating an excellent 2" wound channel. Opening up the hollow point with a small drill bit the same size as the cavity helps prevent penciling a great deal.
DTAC nosering kills three ways - will kill the same way a Berger Target does above, with a third way as the nose breaks off at the ring, exposing a very large hollow opening, folding open wide back on itself creating a wide flower (think Barnes LRX marketing pics) , creating a very large wound channel. To be clear the nose breaks off the DTAC in each case.

Not much of a resemblance to an elk but uffda it doesn't get any better than this white ram!
Side note, many moons ago a couple friends from the Valley went up and took a couple nice white rams. One used his Sako/Swift the other used his 700 22/250.........
