Putting together a light carry 6.5x47. What bullet do you recommend for close range hunting up to 300 yds. Rifle will be mainly spot and stalk with tree stand hunting for whitetail. My Rbros heavy practice 6.5x47 shoots the 130 Berger hunting very well. Just not sure how that bullet will perform on deer at 50 yds or closer. Was thinking maybe a 130 accubond, 127 lrx or 143 eld-x. Anyone have experience with these bullets up close with a MV of about 3000 fps?

I'll get flamed here, but I have a 6.5x47L I built for the same purpose and I only shoot 100 TTSX's through it. Out to 300 yds the lower B.C. means nothing and you can drive them fast, 3100 fps from my 22" borden alpine action rifle. They shoot tiny groups, kick almost none, and hammer deer. I've only had one that wasn't a complete pass through and that was on a doe facing me so I shot her lengthwise.

If I were shooting long range then I'd choose a sleeker, heavier bullet. I don't have anywhere I hunt that I can shoot over 250 yds so I choose the lighter, faster bullet.

Hey if it works why change. I've never shot a copper bullet but did a search on here and the 127 lrx sure gets good reviews. Elk out to 5-600 with x47,260 and creeds. I too was going to mention elk but didn't want to get a lecture. Anyone else have experience with these bullets?

I have all the stuff to build a lightweight 6.5 x 47 including the bullets. I bought Swift Scirocco 130 gr.
