156 Berger shooters.
I had pressure signs at 53gr of N565 getting about 2710-2715 fps out of a 24" 7.5t Proof barrel (suppressed).

I have Ramshot Magnum, H1000, N565, N560, H4831sc.

Looking for input on one of the above mentioned powders to try and gain more velocity.
Only 20 rods down the tube so far and these were my first 3 shots with N565 (53gr).

I am at 2900 with a 26" barrel using rl26. Pretty similar to n565. I have used n565 an have had very good success with it in the 6.5x284.
I'd be curious what your COAL or CBTO (if CBTO, would like to verify we are using same Hornady comparator die as well) is with the 156 in the 6.5x285 and how much RL-26 you are using. PM if you don't like quoting loads. I am using same, in a 26' Proof CF barrel. No pressure signs, but not at your velocity either. Just would like another data point to work from.......

I started at 53 grains and worked to 55. CBTO is 2.61 with hornady comparator. I use 54.2 grains right at 2900 fps.

Also have used N565, n568, retumbo, H1000. All have shown good results

Hopefully your barrel speeds up. I'm running 2725 with a 6.5 creedmore. My 6.5/284 is running in the low 2800.

I'd say typical early pressure signs in a CF barrel and just run with what you have. My 6.5-284 gained ~80 FPS over the first 120 rounds, so there's still a chance it speeds up some. I use 48.0gn H4831SC and run 2730 FPS no where near maxed out on pressure, but groups very well.

My reamer was made to seat 153.5 Bergers with the base about .025" up into the neck. If you're using a SAAMI Norma you might be shorter than I am and hit pressure sooner than I did.

I have a sammi chamber as I didn't have the ability to get the smith some dummy rounds to go off of.
I was thinking of loading 100 rounds of something really mild with 143eldx (cause they are cheap and plentiful and use a powder that I know will work but I use as a "burn" powder) just for the reason of barrel speed up but I decided to just start with good stuff. Idk what the right answer is.

Fireform 100 pieces of lapua brass then start load development. I shot 143eldx before I switched to bergers. Retumbo worked great for the 140s.

My old rifle was a Cooper and I got 2960 in a 26" barrel with Retumbo and 140's but I only have 1.5l s of Retumbo and don't want to find a load with a powder I can't find.
