I was just surfing Midway and low and behold they had a Alexander Arms 6.5 grendel A3 Overwatch upper assembly with a 24" barrel in stock for $799.99! Pushed the buy button as quick as I could, and now I have an upper on the way! Now if I could just get the lowers I ordered six months ago from Alexander Arms.... My daughter and I had hoped to both hunt antelope this year with Grendels we had built, but I am still not sure we can do it... Guess I might have to buy another lower just to get going. Looks like we may get one gun built! Next one I would like a 18" barrel.
Super excited!

Scored two lowers today from Shadow Ops Weaponry. My upper arrived today. My first build is officially underway, and the second is unofficially started as well (so many decisions)! Looks like we will be chasing antelope with a Grendel after all! Well, probably daughter will get first dibs. I am so excited.

Wife is starting her first build today. Couldn't find a AA 6.5 so we went with a .264LBC-AR by Black Hole Armory in 18" 1x9. This is going to be an experiance.

You will love the Grendel. Its a hard hitting, short or long distance deer killing machine. Good luck scoring some ammo. Ive been shooting Hornady 123 gr amax but their making the 123 and 129 gr SSTs as well but ive yet to find any available. Ive taken a nice 7 point Buck at 125 yards and ive also taken a doe at 425.

If you go to ar-15.com and look at equipment exchange under ammunition for sale there is a guy w/ 6.5 ammo for sale at $25 a box , not a deal but available

I might add that even though it would be just as much a pain, buying dies and reloading for this caliber is well worth the trouble. Your brass can be reused several times.

Ive got 650 123 gr SSTs and brass but cant find the right powder and a press. At least i got what i got. Picked a bad time to get into reloading.lightbulb

Finished building the gun except for mounting scope and bipod. I have two boxes of A-Max in hand and five boxes of Wolff coming. I am trying to figure out what kind of scope base to put on "our" gun now, and am not posting photos until after I get the scope on and test it out. Will be putting a Zeiss Conquest 4-14x50 on it. Same situation for bipod - gotta figure out what kind and how to mount. It is the standard AA carbon fiber handguard with two studs, so I guess it will be okay to mount to the extra stud? So excited - plus we got all the tags we wanted for antelope in Wyoming! Desperate for some good hunting rounds. Will keep looking!
I agree about reloading. I reload for our .270's, but have not made the investment to get dies and brass and bullets for the 6.5 yet.

Xbr 8208, CFE 223, Leverlution,

Ive been holding out for the XBR but cant seem to find any. I picked up some Winchester powder that I used on my 308 but I wasnt sure on my Grendel. Thanks for the info, I didnt know I could use the leverevolution. How about Superformance powder?

Ive got the Nikon Buckmaster 6-18-40 BDC on mine but the Zeiss should work wellgun)
