For sale is a custom Savage Model 11 Light Weight Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor.
A little background on this rifle.
I purchased this rifle from a friend who was needing cash. Included with the rifle was 4 boxes of 140 gr Hornady Amax ammo. After cleaning the bore I tested the factory ammo and found the accuracy was not up to my standards and it was obvious by the groups that there was quite a bit of stress in the barrel. I considered sending the barrel off and having it cryo treated but in the end just decided to rebarrel it. I researched prefit barrels and decided on a Shilen Barrel. I sent the action to Shilen and had their barrel shop fit it to the action. At the same time I decided that I also wanted to go in a different direction as far as the stock. The Savage stock was just cheap and had quite a bit of flex in it even for a wood stock. So I called McMillan and ordered a Carbon Graphite Hunters Edge stock. I had them make it for a blind magazine. The original dbm on factory stock was too wide to use on the HE stock. My plan was to fit a Rem700 ADL type magazine into the stock but when I went to search out these parts there was none available so I backordered the ADL parts and then took apart the single stack magazine from the stock magazine and retro fit it into the McMillan stock. At first this magazine was a little clunky to use but after shooting the remainder of the original factory ammo for barrel break in I actually got used to it and it feeds flawlessly. I still have the original ADL parts that I will include for buyer to change if he or she prefers a staggered feed magazine. The rifle weighs 6 lbs. 4 ozs. with Shilen barrel and McMillan stock. During barrel break in the rifle shot groups .6" to .75" with the factory ammo. With the last box of factory ammo I had no problem hitting 8" steel at 750ish yards off of a backpack. With handloads this rifle will be a real shooter. I have some 143 eld-x and h4350 loaded for testing but have never got around to testing it. PM me with your email address and I will send you pictures. Rifle specs are as follows:
Cost of rifle delivered to your FFL dealer is $1600. A copy of your FFL dealers license is required and will be checked to insure it is current and in good standing. As mentioned above, PM me with your email address and I will send you pictures of the rifle.
